What makes a place sacred?

Your Power.

Do you ever just put yourself in a place?  In a time?  Just lie back and be still, and breathe until you're there.  Until your every breath has called in the essence of its energy.  Until your mind has constructed it to be real for you.  Some may call this fantasy, others meditation.  But whatever name you choose, this is a skill to be cultivated; to be practiced.

My ability to travel in my mind to a place and time that’s special to me, led me to the question… what makes a place sacred? I know Google will have a lot to say on the subject, with many different perspectives, and what makes a place sacred to one person or group, may not make it that way to someone else. With love and compassion for others, we can have respect for their sacred places and beliefs.

So, what makes a place sacred to YOU?

Find a place that brings you peace.  Nature is my go to.  Find somewhere that you can feel safe in your body to rest into the ground beneath you.  To give your body permission to settle in.  Take small movements or stretches that release physical tension and then just relax.  Deactivate the body and move into the breath.  Find your rhythm. Feel at first where in your body your breath fills you, and where you can intentionally exhale to create more space, for the next breath.  Move deeper and deeper with full awareness.  Eventually, your breath begins to take over.  You surrender and move into the spirit.

Here you can envision.  You can call in a place you have been, at a moment where you felt most yourself, most loved, or most in your purpose.  You can create the space in your mind and call in those feelings again with gratitude.  You can remember who you are in those moments and it can remind you who you can be in this moment.  We are so powerful.  Our body can rest and breathe, while our spirit soars on the breeze of our minds to the places of our dreams.  And these moments can heal us.  They can bring us back into alignment with our purpose.  Pour a little love tea in our cups as we fill with gratitude.

Feel deep into who you are and search for the desires that lie deepest in your heart, your sankalpa.   Again thinking about your breath, where are you filling these desires? And what can you release to make space for their growth?

Love and intimacy starts at home, in the heart, with yourself.  And it extends out from there to your environment, family members, pets, friends, and the world you live in.  Take  time at home, in your heart. Take time to put yourself in a loving place.  Then, make your home on the outer world reflect your home on your inner world.  Coming more and more into alignment.

Find your sacred places, or create them!
